Flora-Bama

People walking across a street in front of a weathered building with electrical poles, traffic signal, and a sign that reads "Fig Bar Bama".
Interior of a bar with a large sign reading 'Elora-Bama' and the phrase 'Do it with us on the line...'. Shelves behind the bar are stocked with various bottles of alcohol. The bar area has wood paneling and neon lighting, with framed pictures on the wall and signs like 'Suzy Q's Bar' and 'Pilots Welcome'.

If you've never been to Flora-Bama, put it at the top of your list. What starts as a quick stop for a drink somehow turns into an entire afternoon before you even realize it. That's part of the magic.

One of my favorite things to do is rent a couple of beach chairs, settle in with a drink, and spend the day listening to live music with my toes in the sand. You can show up in a swimsuit and flip-flops straight from the beach or throw on a cute sundress for the evening; either way, you'll fit right in.

With multiple stages, several bars, great food, and live music playing throughout the day, there's always something going on. I also love that you can order food, get a text when it's ready, and get right back to enjoying yourself instead of standing around waiting.

During the day, it's surprisingly family-friendly, with kids playing on the beach while adults relax nearby. As the sun starts to set, the energy shifts, the music gets a little louder, and the evening crowd starts to roll in. Whether you're there for an hour or all day, don't be surprised if you lose track of time. Somehow that always seems to happen at Flora-Bama.
